Compiled by Anthony Lane, this book contains a visual record of the tragic events surrounding the loss of many vessels that foundered around the Kent coast. It includes some 200 photographs, drawn from many sources, plus simplified charts that depict the hazards faced by seafarers across the ages. Paintings, engravings and other images are captured to supplement the record where photographs are not available. And of course, this is not entirely a litany of disasters, because amongst it all there were also great feats of heroism and survival.
